took an exciting win in the second race
of the Ferrari Challenge Europe - Trofeo Pirelli Championship in Portimao. The italian driver made an excellent start from pole position
in the Portuguese sunshine, hot on his heels was Daniele di Amato and Raffaele Giannoni. Fuelled by the disappointment of Saturday race no one could catch Mancinelli as he pulled out a lead of over 13 seconds over second place man di Amato by the time the flag fell.
In the first race
of the week end, Daniel Mancinelli took an easy pole position
in the first qualifying for Trofeo Pirelli, and he carried the pace into the early stages of the race with second place man Alex Martin falling back into Chukanov’s hands. In just the second lap Martin made a move on Mancinelli causing the Italian to spin and both to loose position to Chukanov. Martin continued second, but was soon re-passed by Mancinelli. Despite pushing hard Mancinelli, with damage to the rear of his car, could not defeat Chukanov and the race concluded Chukanov, Mancinelli and Martin.
This result means that Chukanov leads the championship with 107 points, Mancinelli is promoted to second position with 85 points
ahead of Caso’s 83.
Mancinelli said: "We had a fantastic weekend, from the free practice I was the quickest, and in the two qualyfing sessions I made two pole position. In the Race 1
after a good start I was leading the race but at the end of main straight during the second lap I was crashed from Martin and I spun. I've been trying to overtake Chukanov but even if I was faster I couldn't.
In Race 2
I won with a big advantage, and I made the fastest lap of the Race.
I'm happy for the results. I was very unlucky during the first race, the car was really good, the team made a great job and now we are closer from the Championship leader. I would like to thanks Kaspersky Lab for the support and I dedicate to them the victory"
